“Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies #MindYourHealth”
It is important to remember that good mental health is essential to everyone’s overall health and well-being, and mental illnesses are common and treatable. So much of what we do physically impacts us mentally. That is why Aiken Barnwell Mental Health Center has partnered with Gold’s Gym- Aiken and North Augusta and this year’s theme for Mental Health Awareness Month “Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies #MindYourHealth” is a call to pay attention to both your physical health and your mental health, which can help achieve overall wellness and set you on a path to recovery. We are focused on how a healthy lifestyle may help prevent the onset or worsening of mental health conditions as well as heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and other chronic health problems. It can also help people recover from these conditions. Mitch Hearne, General Manager at Gold’s Gym Aiken and North Augusta said, “Gold’s Gym is pleased to partner with Aiken Barnwell Mental Health Center to promote awareness of good mental and physical health.” Dr. Greg Smith, Chief of Psychiatric Services/ABMHC offered the following tips, “Getting the appropriate amount of exercise, eating healthy foods, getting enough sleep and managing stress can go a long way in improving your physical and mental health.”
On May 1 at 7pm, Aiken County Council will sign a proclamation designating May as Mental Health Awareness Month. On May 2 at 10:00am, Mayor Osbon will sign a proclamation designating May as Mental Health Awareness Month.
