
Versie J. Bellamy, DNP, Deputy Director of the Division of Inpatient Services
Dr. Versie J. Bellamy has been with SCDMH since 1988 and has served as Deputy Director of the Division of Inpatient Services (DIS) since 2009. During her tenure with DMH, Dr. Bellamy previously served as Quality Assurance Coordinator and Nurse Administrator for the SC State Hospital, Quality Improvement Consultant for SCDMH, Nurse Executive for Bryan Psychiatric Hospital, and the Columbia Behavioral Health System, and Chief of Staff and Chief Nursing Officer for DIS.
She believes strongly in patient-centered care to improve population health. The DIS provides care and treatment to patients and residents in a multi-hospital and Long Term Care facility system. Services are provided to children, adolescents, and adults to include SC Veterans.
Dr. Bellamy earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice, Master of Nursing, and Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of South Carolina. Her post-graduate work includes the Amy V. Cockcroft Leadership Fellowship at the University of South Carolina. She is an alumnus of the South Carolina Executive Institute in affiliation with the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
In 2018, the South Carolina Senate issued a resolution honoring her for her tireless efforts to offer exemplary healthcare services. Dr. Bellamy has served on college and university nursing advisory boards. To relax, she enjoys time with family, music, and tennis.
