This prestigious award was established in honor of Mrs. Louise R. Hassenplug, who served on the Commission from 1987 to 1994. Mrs. Hassenplug worked tirelessly for improvements in services to patients and for increased involvement of family members in patient treatment, as well as for increased research on major mental illnesses.
