DMH provides psychiatric treatment for residents of South Carolina experiencing mental illness. DMH provides  children, adolescents, adults, and families necessary inpatient and outpatient services which may include: emergency psychiatric services, assessments, case management, outpatient counseling, and other psychiatric treatment.

DMH offers a wide variety of mental health treatment services for a broad range of problem areas, which include:

  • Alcohol and other drug addictions
  • Anxiety
  • Attention Deficit Disorder (Complicated with Significant Behavioral Problems)
  • Behavioral Problems
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Co-occurring Disorders
  • Depression
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
  • Suicide Risk
  • Thought Disorders (e.g., Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective)
  • Trauma

Priority is given to those with serious and persistent mental illness.
